Route Details

Your Oslo city tour begins at Oslo’s Central Train Station, right in the heart of downtown between Bjorvika and Pipervika bays. Here, your guide will introduce Tigerstaden and begin sharing with you not only about Oslo’s history and transformation, but also about how you may best discover the delights and intrigues of the city.

Along the waterfront, you’ll see the Oslo Opera House and the revitalized industrial areas, as well as the exterior of the Munch Museum, highlighting the city’s mix of art, architecture, and public life. On Karl Johans gate, Oslo’s pedestrian and commercial heart, stories of royal history, medieval streets, and unions with Denmark and Sweden bring the city’s past vividly to life.

You’ll find a vantage point from which to admire Akershus Fortress, where medieval walls meet modern development, and you’ll have the opportunity to view both of the city’s dominating bays. This will give you an appreciation for the setting of Oslo, an urban center nestled between water and forest. During this time, not only will you learn about the city’s history and various transformations, but also about how the general appreciation for nature and the environment have influenced the way of life of Oslo’s inhabitants.
