Itinerary Details

With your expert guide, we begin the tour at the Pile main gate, just outside the town walls for a brief introduction to the early settlement and development of Dubrovnik. Afterward, as we cross the bridge and enter the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town, we continue to discuss Dubrovnik’s rise as a powerful naval city-state. We might then stop by the classic Onofri Fountain, before continuing down Stradun, Dubrovnik’s main street, littered with historical anecdotes and architectural gems. Along with your expert historian, we traverse through Dubrovnik’s limestone streets and alleys, taking in the local farmer's market, old port, churches, monasteries, ateliers, taverns, and cafes; all with their own unique story to tell. We'll have time to discuss more recent events in Croatia, such as the wartime years. Your route might vary according to your guide.

To continue your explorations of the city with Context, we recommend our Full Day Trip to Montenegro.

Danijela was excellent! Her knowledge of Dubrovnik, its history, culture, architecture and people is exceptional and I would readily engage her again. And she is very professional and friendly.
