In the morning, we’ll join our expert guide for a city tour of the charming town of Chania. Celebrated for its Venetian and Ottoman-era architecture, we’ll stroll its colorful streets as we learn about its Minoan and Byzantine history, and soak up its historical monuments. After our city tour, we’ll drive to the Commonwealth Cemetery, which commemorates the soldiers of the British Commonwealth who died on Crete during the Second World War. As we learn about WWII Cretian history, we’ll take in the great views overlooking the Aegean Sea.

Our route continues to another excellent viewpoint, the Venizelos Tombs. We’ll discuss the history and politics behind these tombs before we head to our final stop of the day: Agia Triada Monastery. This beautiful and serene monastery is situated on a sloping hill just ten miles from Chania. This was a wonderful tour. Dimitra was extremely knowledgeable and fun to be with. We requested to add the new archaeological museum of Chania to the itinerary, and Dimitra made that work. Overall it was a great opportunity to learn about many historical periods of Crete, from the prehistoric era to WW2. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful time yesterday! Dimitra & Yanni were so thoughtful! It was my nephew’s birthday & they got him a gift & pastries & sang Happy Birthday. It was lovely! The tour was excellent as well. We got to see & learn about many sites that we would/could not have gone to on our own. Thank you, Dimitra & Yanni!!!

Dimitra is fabulous. She was a deeply knowledgeable, personable, funny, and gracious guide for a day trip in and around Chania. Our family had such fun spending the day with her and benefitting from her infinite knowledge of Cretan and Greek culture, history (both ancient and modern), architecture, and religion. We learned so much from her about the incredible island of Crete! We saw places -- and appreciated their significance -- with Dimitra that we would never have even found without her (and her wonderful driver, Yannis). As much as the incredible beauty and history of Crete itself, touring with Dimitra makes us want to return! I cannot recommend Dimitra more highly. - Matthew S.
