Introduction to Bruges Tour

Marvel in the charm of Bruges with a local expert

The Finer Details
Starting off at the vibrant Grote Markt, you'll instantly discover the energy that has animated Bruges for centuries. You will discover important places such as La Bourse, the birthplace of Europe's first stock exchange, where the foundations of modern financial systems were laid centuries ago, or Tanners Square (Huidenvettersplein), where the echoes of artisans and craftsmen still resonate.

Amidst the picturesque buildings and cobbled streets, your expert guide will introduce you to the origins of the lottery and its enduring legacy in shaping European society. You will meander along the tranquil Rosary Quay, which offers storybook views of Bruges' iconic canals and medieval architecture. At Van Eyck Square, named after the legendary Flemish painter Jan van Eyck, you will have a moment to reflect on the city's timeless beauty and the vast influence it has had on European and global culture.

Whether you're a history enthusiast, art lover, or simply seeking to immerse yourself in the charm of a bygone era, our Introduction to Bruges tour will speak to all of your senses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this tour appropriate for children?
While not a kid-specific tour, we can accommodate children on this itinerary!

Does this tour include a canal boat ride?
No. We find that it is very difficult to hear on the boat rides offered in Bruges, and they do not lend themselves to the narrative of this tour. We suggest you enjoy our Introduction to Bruges tour first and follow it up with a boat ride by one of the many providers in town to fully appreciate the charm of Bruges.

I loved all of the mini-experiences, especially tailored to our interests (architecture and beer!). The historical insights were excellent and the storytelling held together throughout the tour.
