About Jess

Jess delights in helping visitors unlock the secrets of Oxford.
She's lived in Oxford for 30 years and, as an award-winning Green Badge Oxford tour guide, loves sharing her enthusiasm for her fascinating city's history, culture, architecture and telling stories about its many eccentric inhabitants. She has a degree in History/English Literature and a Masters in International Relations, which she combines with a flair for the theatrical to bring to life the social, political and imaginative role that Oxford has played in the history of Britain, and the world. Her own historical research has focused on the untold stories of Oxford’s rebels and radicals, from feisty female educators to anti-fascist bus drivers. She is passionate about all things literary, be it Tolkien and CS Lewis, Katherine Rundell or Oscar Wilde. As an enthusiastic dressmaker and crafter she is especially drawn to Oxford’s astonishing array of art: from exquisite stained glass windows to astonishing college treasures to world-leading museum collections, Oxford has it all!
