Borghese Gallery After-Hours Exclusive VIP Tour Experience

A rare night inside the Borghese, in a serene light only a privileged few ever see

The Finer Details
For one evening, the Galleria Borghese belongs to your family alone. After the echo of the last visitors has faded and the Baroque masters are left alone in silence, you’ll wander its halls as if invited into a private home, greeted not by crowds, but by Bernini, Caravaggio, Titian, and Canova.

On this 2.5-hour expert-led tour, the gallery’s treasures unfold with an intimacy rarely granted to visitors, in a completely different light, in a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

With exclusive after-hours access, you and your guide will be the only ones in the Gallery, and will have room to linger in the empty halls, take the time to reflect on each detail with unobstructed views, and see these masterpieces transformed by quiet and light. When the doors close, the art begins to speak.

Choose this tour if…

  • You’d rather leave the impossible to professionals, unlocking one of the world’s hardest-to-enter museums for you without stress, while you simply enjoy feeling like a VIP
  • You’d love a guide who meets each person where they are: sparking curiosity in kids, enriching seasoned travelers, and keeping everyone captivated in their own way.
  • You look for a deep connection with the art and its history, and would like to be guided by an expert who reveals what art history books don’t tell you.
  • You want to return home with the story of the night you had the Borghese almost entirely to yourself, an experience so rare it will leave your friends back home incredulous.

Route Details

As the galleries fall silent, details usually lost during busy daytime hours become strikingly clear.

You will stand before Bernini’s Apollo and Daphne, observe the dramatic chiaroscuro in Caravaggio’s works, and take in the delicate symbolism of Titian’s Sacred and Profane Love. Your expert guide will introduce you to the world of Cardinal Scipione Borghese, the political currents of papal Rome of the 17th-Century, and the creative rivalries that shaped the Baroque.

Without the crowds, you can take in the art at your own pace, with appreciation for how power, beauty, and belief converged in these extraordinary works. It’s a setting that invites connection, offering a quiet, reflective close to your Roman day.

Logistics

Tickets

Once you reserve your tour, we immediately begin coordinating with the gallery to secure your private opening. Because the museum must approve each exclusive entry, availability is limited and cannot be confirmed instantly.

Sharing a couple of alternative dates or times when you book helps us secure your access more quickly and efficiently. If the museum proposes a different slot, we’ll notify you right away and handle everything on your behalf, ensuring you receive the rarest opening possible with zero hassle.

Accessibility

We understand that some of our valued guests may have mobility concerns, and we want to ensure you have a comfortable and enjoyable experience throughout your tour. If there are any accessibility concerns that your tour guide will need to be aware of, please let our team know at the time of booking.

Wheelchair accessibility
The Borghese Gallery is accessible to people with mobility issues. Wheelchair users can access a dedicated entrance, and wheelchairs are also available for rent on-site. Due to the cramped spaces, guests may occasionally be asked to temporarily swap their wheelchairs for the museum's smaller, easier-to-maneuver wheelchairs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are tickets included?
Yes, they are included in the special private opening of the museum.

Can I take photos inside the Borghese Gallery?
Yes. You may use a camera or a phone camera but you may not use flash to take photos.

Is this tour wheelchair-accessible?
Yes, the museum is wheelchair accessible. There is a special entrance for wheelchair users and wheelchairs are also available for guests with mobility issues. Guests with their own wheelchair can use it on the first floor, however, then need to use a smaller wheelchair provided by the museum to access the second floor. They can then use a larger wheelchair, also provided, to complete the tour on this floor.

Are there going to be other people in the museum with us?
No. When you book this experience, the museum is reserved exclusively for you and your group. Only essential staff and security will be present to ensure a smooth and private visit—there will be no other guests allowed inside during your time.

What does the private opening of the museum provide us and why such a high price?
This experience gives you the rare opportunity to have the museum opened just for you. Normally, the venue is closed during this time. A dedicated team—from security to staff and specialists—will be there specifically to welcome your group and make the space fully private. It’s the most exclusive, VIP access the museum offers.

Can we add more people to the group later?
Yes, absolutely. You can add participants after booking, up to a maximum of 10 guests in total.

How does the availability work?
Is our tour confirmed immediately after booking? Being such a special experience, this tour will not be confirmed immediately after booking like we normally do with other tours. The confirmation depends on venue availability. Once we receive a new booking, we immediately contact the venue to make sure there’s availability for you. If this is confirmed, we will immediately let you know. In case of unavailability in your selected date, the Gallery will provide us with alternative dates or times. It is very useful to have those alternative dates at the time of booking in order to speed up the booking and communication process with the venue. Being such a special offer, being quick and proactive with the communication is crucial.

Can we reduce the time inside the museum?
We generally don’t recommend it. The itinerary is designed to provide the most complete and meaningful experience, including key highlights and a carefully built narrative from your guide. However, if you have special needs or time restrictions, please let us know and we’ll be happy to discuss possible adjustments.

Can we bring bags to the museum?
For security reasons, bags of any size are not allowed inside the gallery. There is a secure onsite bag deposit where all belongings can be safely stored during your visit.

Can we bring our kids?
Of course! Children are more than welcome. Our guides are experts at making the tour engaging and enjoyable for younger visitors, and they will gladly adapt the experience for families.
