On this full-day private Champagne tour from Paris, you’ll explore the city of Reims and its surrounding countryside, home to some of the most important Champagne producers in the world. You’ll visit the vineyards of small local winemakers and explore the cellars of a world-renowned champagne house. You’ll learn about the history of the Champagne region and why its climate is perfect for the production of the effervescent wine.

You will be visiting local establishments that have varying hours and availability by day and by season. We do our best to reserve certain champagne houses, but some may be closed on the day of your visit.

What is the legal drinking age in France?

The legal drinking age is 18.

How will we travel to Champagne from Paris?

You will meet your guide in Paris early in the morning. Together you will drive to Reims (2h drive), where you will explore the city and the Champagne region by car. At the end of the tour, your guide and driver will drop you off at your hotel.

Which champagne houses will we visit?

We aim to visit one highly prestigious and internationally known champagne house, as well as a smaller, independent producer. Exact houses vary by day and season. If you have your heart set on tasting a particular house, please let us know in advance, and we will do our best to accommodate.

This was by far the best tour we’ve ever taken with Context. Susan was our guide and made the tour the best experience. First she picked 2 different styles of Champagne house to visit with contrasting size and style of production. She picked out a fabulous restaurant for lunch that the view alone would be worth the visit but the food matched the views. Lastly what made this the best tour was Susan herself. She greeted us with fresh squeezed orange juice and pastries for the ride. Also it’s usually not easy to engage in conversation for 11 hours but Susan did this effortlessly with her depth of knowledge but also her friendly nature.

We enjoyed our Champagne Tour immensely. Cynthia was a fountain of knowledge and passionate about her craft. We now have an appreciation for the incredible effort and skill it takes to deliver the bubbly to our glasses. Then we learned about the varieties and the way to pour and then enjoy our champagne, of course with proper pairing to our meal! Reims Cathedral was the icing on the cake. We would highly recommend Cynthia and Context Tours to our friends. This was our third tour. Each one amazing with a knowledgeable tour guide who taught us and made us feel comfortable. We had so much fun.

Our tour of the champagne region with Sara was a once in a lifetime experience! Sara was wonderful, sharing her extensive knowledge of the region, its history and the wines. And the tour of the small, independent family run winery gave us wonderful insight on every aspect of creating a fine champagne. It certainly gave us a much greater appreciation of the artistry behind creating such a beautiful product. And then, having the chance to tour the Pommery Vineyard and cellars was a magical combination of artistry, music and fine wine. Coupled with a beautiful lunch at a private mansion, and tour of the Reims cathedral, where French kings were crowned from the 11th century, rounded out a fantastic day. And our driver was top notch. Thank you Sara for organizing such a wonderful tour!
